When I first glanced at this ad I thought maybe someone added an extra "0" by mistake: http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/198...1/Santa-Barbara/CA/United-States#.WC3Pt7IrJKc (It's also listed on Craig's List here: http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/bod/5879601666.html)

Then I thought, "Gee! Maybe I should list my boat for $50K and turn a tidy profit!"

The reason for the price is not the boat but because it comes with a Santa Barbara slip, which is not easy to obtain. Someone buying that boat will probably turn around and list the boat alone for $5K so they can put something else in the space--just wait.

Slip availability and pricing is pretty crazy in Southern Calif. In my area (San Pedro) there is more supply than demand, so there are plenty of vacant slips in some very nice, well-maintained marinas. But other places, not so much.

Seeing the same in the SF bayarea. Think I saw a Cal 20 add for an outrageous amount of money for the slip.
