anchor light replacement bulb - which bulb to use?

Hi All,

I need to replace the anchor light light bulb, at the top of the mast on my 1980 Ericson 30+. Anyone have any idea what type of bulb it might use?

Plan to send several different bulbs up the mast with someone who will replace my wind indicator. While they're up there, they'll try putting a new bulb in the anchor light which hasn't worked in a few years. Of course no guarantee its just the bulb, and I have no idea if the fixture is the original fixture.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the top of the mast showing the fixture, etc.

So can anyone suggest what type of bulbs do I send up? Specifically, the type and size of light bulb base? I'm thinking a screw in one, and one with the two pins. I think its called a bayonet bulb, BAY15D or BA15D? Any other types or recommendations?

Thanks!

Be aware that the lens of any fixture over 20 years old may be terminally UV-cracked, and the rest of the part may also be at/beyond end of life. Five years ago I replaced our steaming light and also the masthead/anchor light fixtures due to obvious old age. i.e. it was a wonder that they worked at all... :)

Loren Beach: That's a good point. I'm hoping to get away with just putting in a new bulb and we'll see. Thanks!

My masthead light sometimes seems dim, compared to other boats in the anchorage, and sometimes about the same. Now that the mast is down and I've got a good look at it... it actually has two lenses - fore and aft - with two different LED festoons. Not much illumination to the sides. Don't buy that one.
