Aux power/docking "advances"

Let me know when they get it to the point where I can get on the boat, enter my destination coordinates, push one button then start drinking while the boat backs out of the slip, motors out of the harbor, raises all the sails, sails to my destination, lowers the sails, motors into the harbor, finds the guest slip at the marina (or picks up the mooring or sets the anchor) ties itself up and makes a dinner reservation for me.

Now if Jenneau could just design a sailboat that actually looks like a sailboat and not some "sneaker from outer space"....

Looks like a lot of pricey crap that will require lots of expensive maintenance and it will break when you need it most.

Roller furling etc.

As I remember hot and cold water, roller furling, refridgeration, self tailing winchs etc were all pricey crap that would break and require lots of maintenance. Hmmm...maybe they are. :egrin:

These are getting more common on power boats, but completely avoid the KISS principle.

They are the answer to a maiden's prayer when docking in wind & current.
