As I'm replacing all the standing rigging, I'm looking at other changes I might make. One of those potential changes is to remove the topping lift and replace it with a Boomkicker (or rigid vang?)—and also add a vang sheet setup (currently has none).
On the current boom, the pin freely rotates ("rolls") which apparently can introduce additional stress on the Boomkicker hardware. I'm curious what solutions others have come up with? Boomkicker sells a set of braces to stabilize the boom to the mast, which could be an okay solution.
Also welcome responses suggesting a rigid vang instead, or other options.
