All,

Can anyone please provide me with a drawing of a 1983 E30+ diesel tank, which I believe is a ~20 gallon one! I bought the boat in 2000, and it supposedly had been recently replaced. I did download the E30 drawing but I'm not sure the E30+ is the same. The replacement tank resembles it, but it developed a leak last year (2023) just about the time that club series racing (Bristol YC in RI) was about to start. I was lucky enough to find an old Tempo 12 gallon solid shape rectangle tank with all the necessary connections (hoses and electrical for the gauge). It's strapped down securely on top of the board that is on top of the old tank and it served us well last year. But having so much dead weight carried in the old tank with the new one on top just barely under the cockpit is something I'd like to fix ASAP.

In any event, can someone please email one along if you have one? I had an old copy that someone had provided to me several years ago which was labeled for a 30+, but I'll be damned if I can now find it now! Even I if can't get one replaced this year, I can shop around for a replacement for next year from the right drawing and hope for continued success with the Temp spare tire!

Thanks!,

Hi Carl,
Sorry, cannot provide what you need. My prior boat was a 1984 30+ that developed a fuel tank leak. I found the cost of an exact replacement to e prohibitive and chose the largest rectangular tank that would fit into the space available……think it was about 12 gallon. Installed a couple of aluminum angles across to support it. So then I had to fill the tank twice a season instead of once. Perhaps you can take out the tank and have one fabricated to match $$$? Your 30+ looks very handsome, our “new” boat is a 32-3. Can’t beat Ericsons.
Good luck, Mannng

I repaired the tank in my 30+ in place with epoxy & fiberglass. Had to cut an access panel big enough to thoroughly clean and ability to work on the inside. My leak was in the lowest point under pick up where all the crud had built up. After cleaning scuff/sand up the area so epoxy has something to bite into. I used 2 layers of glass sandwiched in West epoxy. No more leaks ! The hardest part was getting my homemade access panel lid to seal . There is another member here that has done the same repair successfully. The folks at West System were very helpful so if you decided to attempt contact them and they'll provide steps to successful repair. Being an 83 model yours is what I like to call a 30+ V1 as mid 84 they changed a lot of structural and some functional features but I digress....I had the the V1 also and didn't think the tank would fit out the laz without removing engine so this repair seemed a worthwhile and much less expensive alternative. Good luck whatever you do and keep us posted !
