Canvas hatch covers

At the beginning of the season I had JSI (www.newjsi.com) make two foam backed Sunbrella hatch covers for the Lewmar hatches I installed a couple of years ago. The intent was to keep the expensive new hatches from crazing like the old ones. They look great and fit perfectly (you have to send in pattern made from heavy plastic). A major benefit, that I didn't really anticipate, is that they keep the boat much cooler and really cut down on the growth of mold.

We have Sunbrella covers for both of our Lewmar hatches, just to protect 'em from UV. We also use the foreward hatch cover to darken the V-berth for sleeping in....
Since buying the boat we have replaced both hatches, and would not want to go through that project again any time soon...
