One of our lifelines just started cracking and leaking rust stains in the last few days! A lower priority item got bumped to the very top of the queue.
What was a future DIY item became a "just get it done" item.
We talked to Jeff Asbury about reputable companies locally that might do a good job and he mentioned SeaTek here in San Pedro.
A few quick e-mail exchanges and we have a good quote and a start work order.
The guy who shows up is nice and seems competent enough. Somehow our possible plans for Hawaii come up. He casually mentions, yes I was in the TransPac in 2011, we won. When Nancy says "so you are famous ?" he says something like "well, I guess so".
Sure enough, Mike Blunt was the bowman on Grand Illusion, the Santa Cruz 70 that won first place last year.
We would never have known if we hadn't asked. Amazing how celebrities that actually did something (other than circling rehab) pass by quietly in the night, unnoticed, unless you happen to ask.
Our hat is off to him.
