Cleaning heat exchanger on Universal 5411 (M-15)

I have a 1983 28+ with a Universal 5411 (M-15) that has been modified (from the factory I think) to be fresh water cooled. I want to clean out the heat exchanger and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has done that on this arrangement. Here is a link to a page that has a photo of the heat exchanger that I have. Last spring I pulled out my HE. It was working fine but I thought a little Preventative maint was in order. When I pulled it out it looked clear – no junk clogging up the tubes. There is not much to them although mine is the more standard horizontal unit. I brought mine to the local radiator repair garage and they soaked it in some special solution and I put it back together. There is just a new gasket needed on the end cap.
