Core damage? E35-2 chainplate leak

thanks for the photos and link... I missed that thread when scouring for bulkhead repairs. I have envisioned something like this although my damage seems to be more vertical than horizontal as yours was so wondering about the shear forces on a long piece scarfed in vertically. One question though... how did you finish the repaired cabin side to make it look aesthetically pleasing..? thanks, garry

I'd PLANNED to adhere sheets of wood veneer to both sides of the repair covering all the visible bulkhead, then stain and varnish to a reasonable match.

But what ended up happening was that the final coats of fairing epoxy had been thickened with wood dust, and the result didn't look too bad. Once the repair had been proven to my satisfaction after a season, I ended up just varnishing it. And have been sailing on it ever since.
