Daisy Raft Up

Hi all,

I wanted to share an event that our club held last weekend. We called it the "Daisy Raft-Up" and it was a hoot--particularly because it was a very light wind day.

One boat anchored and then we all tied up to it one at a time--stern to stern--till we could complete the circle. At one time we had 18 boats involved. Then one of our fellow sailors, who has his own plane (some people just have tooooo much money), flew over and took some photos from above, as we frolic-ed in the middle. After too many drinks a couple of the guys decided to "climb the stick" and take a few pics.

Overall, it was a great afternoon--and even though I was the lone Ericson--it was a great event. Each boat had food to share and we "boat hopped" all afternoon.

Just thought I would share the pics with you all and perhaps others might give it a try.

Looks like great fun.

But were you all being held by just one hook? When I've seen these before the folks usually row out anchors all around the compass to be able to pull the boats into a nice circle.

We did one a few years back with about 25 boats. We set out anchors at 4 points in 15kts. We picked the 4 largest boats to do the anchoring.
