Blew out the main on my inaugural sail (sail was a 10+ year old North laminate, well past it's prime)

Other than what my loft tells me, which I do believe, I would like a second opinion.

What would be a better choice for a cruiser (part time racer) on Lake Michigan?

HTP plus or Hydra Net Radial?

Quantum built me a main and 150 genny out of Dimension CXT. Google it or take a look here. The main was in '05 and the genny '06. Both have been great performers and good price. Holding up very well and have been pushed beyond their rated AWS several times and still look pretty darn good.
