E-23-2

I have an E 23-2. Its a bit tired but still floats. Moved her from Puget sound to Tri Cities Wa.
I have the room where I'm living and would like to do a restoration/ clean up.
Anyone here have any photos of one in original shape? Any information for parts new or used?
She was racing around Anacortes years back from what I understand, I would like to make everything simpler.
For example, really don't think I need an adjustable backstay for this one, the life lines along the sides seem to be more of a tripping hazard than a safety feature.
Looks like its not really a popular gal around here but I think its a great little boat.

So sorry for not taking any photos two afternoons ago when I was out sailing with a friend. There are a couple of very active E-23/2 boats sailing often on the Columbia, and one of the regulars (#71 per the sail number) was out again when we were. It was going to weather beautifully. Lovely design, in general.
Bruce King's smallest Ericson makes the J-24 look like an overpriced kitchen appliance, IMHO.
Working jib and full main on this local one. Good luck with yours. :)
Way back when we were sailing our Ranger 20, I used to tension up the BS when going to weather but did also slack it off to "snug" when tied to the dock.
Do not make a hasty decision about lifelines. They are there to keep you aboard -- you shoulda heard some of the squawks from the hard-core racers in the late 70's when the national rules were changed to a requirement to have a top lifeline at least 18" off the deck. ("It will add weight and windage!" )
Before that the only hope for the overboard crew was the requirement to finish with the same crew that they started with. Presumably they had to recover the injured/wet crew or their corpse in order for a finish to count... ! :( Ah yes, the "good old days."
And of course..... nowadays with the lifeline requirement published for a generation, an injury or death that might have been avoided with lifelines might draw the attention of a liability lawyer or two.

Can you post up some pix? Also, please add your boat model and location to your sig line.
Fair Winds! Welcome to the Viking site.
:egrin:

Restoring a classic.... can sound kinda romantic. Very Satisfying, but only after getting well acquainted and comfortable with many tools and a vacuum. I hope the OP can also post up some more pix.

.. Still better than taking up golf, IMO. :)

I've got plenty of photos of my 23-2 in the media section. All we did was change the cushions and carpet. I think she's largely stock.

Very close design relative and a great blog. Same EY crew probably built out both the 23 and 25 models, maybe?
