I have to transit a local fwy bridge to go downriver. Prolly plenty of clearance but I've not seen official measurement from my waterline to masthead. Anybody know where to find this short of measuring with a halyard. Thanks.

When docked, you could use trig to figure height from shadow of mast. Nautical Almanac can help with solar angle. Pretty straightforward (I think) if taken at local solar noon. Halyard method might be easier, though, as long as you figure in the bits above the sheave.

Buy a soft (not steel) 100-foot tape. 20 bucks at Home Depot, probably less on Amazon.

Run the end up the main halyard. Measure down to the water next to the boat. Add 5 feet to cover masthead instruments/antenna and a little fudge-factor. Easy-peasy, and then you *know*. Anything else is a guess.

Love the trigonometry based solution. Problem is, I'm in oregon. We don't have any sun and therefore no mast shadow.
