i have been looking at several 1970's era E-41 and all seem to have leaks in the deck around the chain plates. I am seriously considering buying one. Does anyone have any information on how the deck is constructed ? In most of the boats i have looked at the wood on the cabin inside by the bulkheads where the chainplates are is rotted out. It seems like the side decks are just a outer layer of fiberglass with some wood on the underside but the coach roof appears to be a double layer fiberglass with balsa core sandwiched in? Is this the way the deck is constucted. And is the rot a structural problem or cosmetic? Any info is greatly appreciated
