Empty CNG tanks

Finally purchased the adaptor mentioned up thead and used it to fill my tanks. Worked flawlessly. Total cost to fill two tanks was $2.81.

We have a CSI Compressed Natural Gas system for the galley stove in our 1988 32-200 that is original equipment. Trouble is we need a refill of the tank and the Corp Brothers facility in Rhode Island no longer does that. There are lots of CNG refilling stations for vehicles around but none know what I am talking about for boats. We are new owners and are wondering if anyone out there knows where or how to get our tank filled. We are in Upstate NY and are willing to travel a bit to fill it.
We have an ‘87 Ericson 32 Mark III. It uses what Ericson used to call Saf-T-Gas (CNG) because it is lighter than air (Propane is heavier than air and therefore any leakage can accumulate in a hull). We formerly were able to refill our CNG tanks with an adaptor we made (i.e. Automotive CNG station to Saf-T-Gas bottle). Automotive CNG refill stations have all gradually disappeared. There is a hardware store in Grosse Point, Michigan (Thomas Hardware - Ph. 313.886.6094) who specialize in Saf-T-Gas tank refilling. You have to leave your tanks with them for a week or two because they batch fill all tanks which had been dropped off at once. Our last refill cost $60 for a 3,600psi max refill. We usually leave our Saf-T-Gas tank with them in the fall, after boat pull out and pick them up refilled in the spring before launch. I realize that this is considerably out of your area but thought I’d make mention anyway for what it is worth.

Lockwood Boatworks in South Amboy, NJ still does CNG exchange. The last one in the area that I can find.

I too purchased an adaptor and fill at a CNG filling station in Forestville, MD. $2.65 to fill the tank. The adaptor off the web was a bit expensive but cheaper than changing to LP. Having multiple CNG tanks on hand is helpful.
