Are these good blue water boats? I'm looking at one that has a factory outboard, what are the pros and cons of that? I would imagine its not that good but any thoughts? Thanks!
Inboard would be better for a variety of reasons. The boat model itself has an ocean crossing history.
Also, much depends on your definition of "blue water".
My definition of blue water would be like Marina Del Rey or San Diego to Hawaii. Was looking at a Ericson 30-2 as well but not crazy about the hung rudder. Been comparing them to a Columbia 29, Cape Dory 28 or something like a Catalina 27 or 30. I'm on a fairly limited Sailboat budget

I do not know what about the Ericson 30-2 rudder bothers you, but it's a solid ocean boat.
Hi! Do you have a small boat with big dreams? I did. I started with a tiller steering Ericson 27, and, frustrated by its inability to go straight without my help, I decided to make some innovations... Afterwards, I've sailed her up to Alaska...
I just completed a long trip where I went 30 days alone from Mexico to Hawaii, and then another 30 days alone from Hawaii to Bellingham. Here are some videos: The Trip to Hawaii The return I also have a blog that is external to this site where...
