I added 10K in options (sails, bottom paint, electronics)

That boat is in France. I imagine the options are about the same--no sails, etc. Comes with 29 hp Yanmar.

The Bene has an iron keel and a sail drive. That alone would make it non-comparative, IMHO.

Better check on the hull-to-deck joint, too. I seriously doubt that it's as near as strong as your EY boat.

One huge difference in looks and function is the disappearance of affordable teak for interiors. In the 80's EY and other high-end builders were able to source good quality teak. Even our Olson has quite a bit of teak plywood and solid trim inside. FWIW this quality of interior wood is only available nowadays at very high prices.

To me that still does not excuse the French builders for making their interiors out of leftovers from an Ikea factory....
(It's better than the 'genuine wood grain Formica' that Catalina, Capital Yachts, and Coastal Recreation put into thousands of interiors in the 70's and early 80's, though.)

We visit the bigger boat shows pretty much every year, and unless you are looking at a Najad (so similar) there is little to compare to an Ericson.

Who me? Biased? No way....
:egrin:
