Ericson 38

I am looking at buying an Ericson 38, either a 1981 or 1984 model. I am interested to hear peoples opinions and what if anything I should look out for. Also, if anyone knows one for sale, preferably in the Chesapeake bay area, please let me know.

The primary thing to look for on a1981 is water in the balsa core of the deck. Water enters through the winch handle compartment between the dorades just forward of the mat. Otherwise the boat is built very well and sails like a a dream.

WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF A 1981 E 38 AND IN OUR OPINION YOU JUST COULDN'T FIND ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!

In case Andy Rodgers (owner of a 1984 E38) does not see your query, he told me he just had to spend about $6,000 replacing his keel bolts due to corrosion under the nuts. I would have one removed to check their condition.
