Ericson 41

I'm considering a 1969 Ericson 41. I;ve been doing a lot of research on the boot and unserstand that the keel is 6' father deep for the Bahama cruising we'd like to do and thought about the Mars Metal company in Canada designing a bulb for the keel. In further investigation I found that the keel was encapsulated however several versions were built. Some with a bolt on lead keel that was then encapsulated and some with no keel bolts which was the less expensive design. Is there anyone out there that has had any experience with this issue? I know that the second version did have problems after heavy grounding?

Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks,
