We are in the final stages of our purchase of an Ericson 38. During the survey, the issue of a saturated rudder came up and we found out that Foss Rudder, original builders of the rudders, is still in business in California (not the Florida company) has identical new rudders for sale and will ship. Thank you for the link. I will be needing a new rudder at the end of the season (making due this year) and this is very helpful. I have requested a quote and hope to hear back soon.
Have you priced your 38 rudder as of yet? Would you mind sharing if you have.?

Glad the link came in handy for you. I found the info about foss rudders on this site under downloadable PFD's in th information section, thankfully, as the boat we just bought has a cracked and swollen one and we were told it would cost more to repair it than replace it. The quote was $1,950 and the shipping from CA. will be $150.00 to WA.
