hard starting?

Eureka! Finally solved my starting problem by running a grounding cable directly to the starter. As an experiment I ran an old battery cable from one of the starter mounting bolts to the point where the battery ground wire connects to the engine.
I have had the dead button / push multiple times to start problem intermittently for the last 10 years. I have replaced the button and cleaned up the grounds multiple times. The problem disappeared for well over a year but returned this summer with a vengeance.
Today I went to the auto parts store, bought a $12 cable and ran it from the starter ear to battery negative ground point on the engine.
Problem solved !
