Nothing much there to disagree with! :)
After our 2021 major re-fit, I took the new/current survey to a well regarded boat insurance agent and had new agreed-value insurance (pretty close to my investment $) granted by a major company in a matter of days. The agency told me the survey was absolutely the key ingredient.

My surmise is that the calendar age of a boat is just one part of evaluating it. Maintenance can then render it "older" or "younger".
And after the first couple decades, the owner needs to show maintenance and updating to the major structures and attachments, and not too many owners do that.

Upon reflection, the granting of insurance kind of echos some ancient advice about borrowing money -- where you prove to the bank that you do not need their money and only then will they trust you with their $.
For insuring our boats, providing a solid personal resume and copious records of condition and maintenance that likely reduce the likelihood of a claim may make the insurer want to insure you and your particular vessel.

Thanks for the link!
:egrin:
