use of paint for the same sort of project
I like the Formica. But although modesty isn't my strong suit, I didn't really work too hard on the surface before painting. With the portlights out, the wall in question, even when repaired with epoxy and filler, was pretty easy to make smooth with the usual passes of orbital sander.
And although Brightside was super glossy (I don;t know about the replacement Interlux product) there was none of the usual magnification of faults, and it came out like glass.
This was a long time ago, but i would remember any big issue. For what it's worth.
