Johnson Sailmaster 9.9 on E26/25.5

I’m experiencing a minor problem with a Johnson Sailmaster 9.9 (approximate vintage is 1998-2001). It was running perfectly until I was going in reverse and ran over a piece of rope that proceeded to wrap itself around the propeller and kill the engine. I removed the rope and restarted the engine – all seemed Ok and it ran fine, but it also now appears to be starving for gas. While motoring back into the harbor it died twice and then started right back up. The last time that it appeared to be ‘thirsty’ I squeezed on the bulb and it recovered from it’s almost stall.

A picture of my toy can be found at the bottom of the page HERE

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments.
