Mission: Accomplished. Overnight at a Secluded Cove.

After a few nights anchored at Two Harbors I departed and anchored and overnighted at a small cove. No services, cell or otherwise. It went well and only pages of description could convey everything I saw and felt. I have become competent at anchoring bow and stern and when I realized this I knew it was time to try my luck and acheive what I had been working toward. It was a beautful cove. The quality of the light on the post rain spring time fields of green grass and yellow wildflowers were like champagne for my eyes, and I drank and drank and drank. It was a happy time. Don't let anyone tell you that dreams cannot come true.
P.S. So tired, so worth it.

Never saw Catalina so green, wow.
I don't expect to see it like this again. Here are some other shots of the Two Harbors. On one end of town a ravine had been carved out by rain and I felt compelled to explore it. I am glad I did. When at the cove I was walking through tall grass and accidentally flushed a pair of very large quail, I suspect their nest was near.

It is a really great experience when our competence at things like managing the anchoring and maintaining the boat become secondary to taking in our surroundings. I cruised for a few years in Central America and the Western Caribbean and it was sort of depressing to hang out with the yachties who only wanted to drink and talk about amps and diesels (OK, I was part of that). Thanks for sharing what the goal of developing mastery of maintenance and sailing competence really is.

I thought they were Portuguese Man of War. Now I find they are called "By the Wind Sailors" Velella velella. I saw many on the crossing but at Catalina harbor there were millions beached in two tidal lines along the entire shore of the harbor. I had never seen one Before. They have a sail and can travel far.

I encountered them too, 10,000 around me, when new to the Pacific. The forum stepped in immediately to identify--Vellela!

Say, is that an iPhone camera? Really good images.

Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra. Great camara with impressive zoom and also a handy fisheye for tight spots. Very happy with it.
