ipad - Android w/ Built in GPS?

There have been some recent threads on this site using these platforms as an alternative for nautical navigation. I believe I saw an android based "pad" with built in GPS antennae. Don't know about ipad.

We can't be too far from using something like that with OpenCPN can we?

Any of you "bleeding edge" guys out there have an update? I'll wait until I don't have to hook up my "pad" to an external antennae nor pay a monthly or otherwise "connection" fee.

I am a pilot by profession (military) and a sailor by passion/hobby. Would I use something like this in my jet? HELL NO!!!!! Would I use it on my boat? Hell yes. And I do. The difference? When the damn thing fails when I need it on my boat I walk away feeling like an idiot, in my jet I don't walk away. We are a long way from not carrying paper charts, in a boat or in a plane. JMHO.
