I have a sailing buddy who just bought a Montgomery 15. It's a classy lapstrake FRP pocket cruiser. He plans to trailer it up and down the West coast next summer, and it is light enough to tow behind his diesel compact car.
In searching for Montgomery images and info on-line I found a neat photo essay about the building of the plug for their newest 23' model.
Other builders, including Ericson, used to publish color brochures with views and info about the actual building of their boats.
Still, it's really interesting to see the photos of the tedious work that goes into the plug and tooling a new model.
(Back in the day, I recall watch the painstaking finishing of the molds for the Ranger 8.5, up at the old Ranger Boat factory in Kent WA where my Ranger 20 was built in the late 70's.)
Cheers,
Loren
