New Ericson Forum Search Engine Capabilities

Christian Williams

Nothing can compete with Google and its search-engine competitors, but Sean's upgrade of the Ericson forum is a boon to finding stuff here.

Forum search can be narrowed down more successfully than in the past.

For the first time, Blogs can be searched by Ericson model. Blogs are owner diaries and not intended for Q & A or ongoing discussion--that's what forums are for. However, an owner of, say, an E32-200, can at a glance call up all blog references to, say, "water heater" -- just for his model. That's now possible because the blogs are sorted by model ("prefix"). Use tab Search Blogs/Prefix.

"Blogs by Author" presents the blog lists as they formerly appeared.

Owner Photo Albums, accessed under the Media tab, are also now searchable by yacht model. Media/Owners Albums/Prefix List.

Migration of data and photos continues and may not yet be complete for every entry.

Hats off to Sean Engel, proprietor.

I appreciate the thought Christian - but thank the guys at XenForo.

In 2000 I chose the vBulletin platform because it had lots of innovative features good code in it. As time when on, that changed with the company's acquisition by bigger players.

Now, much of the leadership of XenForo consists of those original developers from vBulletin (way back when it was just Jelsoft) - and surprise - it's an innovative product and has good, clean -elegant- code in it.

Hopefully this bodes well for the next 20 years at EY.o!
