Noise Reduction Advise

My new Beta 16 diesel engine is a lot louder than the old A4 I finally replaced. Might be related to the great install and alignment (I did it myself). I see various grades of noise reduction foam at Defender. W Marine has their version with no performance spec.

Anyone out there know the scoop on best to use (with lead, without lead, vinyl sandwich, etc) and sources?

Commercial Boat Suppliers

http://www.soundown.com/ is a good source for Sound Insulation info.
The Sound Insulation is commonly available at Commercial Boat Suppliers (Fishermen...not WM). I used the 1" Sandwich Foam/Lead Vinyl with Mylar Face attached with screws and fender washers. DO NOT use the Sound Insulation with sticky back. The glue does not hold up and makes the installation more difficult. The Sound Insulation comes in 3'x 5' sheets and will be a Fraction of the cost from WM.

Dan, Rob,

Thanks for the info.... not sure what I will use yet. Sailor Solutions sounded a lot easier to install. I'll check out Fisheries Supply in Seattle and see what they have. Bird in hand will likely win out over mail order.
