Racing Ericson 34

I have been looking at Ericson 34's recently and am looking for comments as to how it does in PHRF racing. Some boats sail relatively easily to their rating others don't. This of course begs the question of how the competency of the crew as well as how the boat is maintained and otfitted but assuming these factors are "standard" how do they do?

I race out of Vancouver and I don't think that there are many 34's here although 911's are fairly well represented.

Are you interested in the late-70's E-34 (R or T) or the 80's E-34? The later one is quite different from the first more IOR-ish one. (The interior layouts are different, also.)

Late 80's early 90's

I was not aware of the earlier versions. I am interested in ones made by Ericson in the late 80's or early 90's before they went stopped making them.

Our O-34 has a very similar interior layout, but is a "smaller" boat by both size and displacement.
I would not turn down a nice E-34....

To me it's like a reduced-dosage version of the Ericson 38-200.

Olson 34 not E-34

Hmmm all that I referred to was correcct except that I am interested in the Olson 34 not the Ericon 34. When I looked at the list of boats I fixed on the 34 not the Olson vs Ericson. I have really enjoyed my Olson 911SE but saw an Olson 34 at recently and was intrigued enough to look at them harder. Sorry for the confusion!!!

The Admiral keeps pestering me to buy an Ericson 38...

(It's not too bad though, she only mentions it about three times a week for a decade.)
