Even just aimless daysailing, I really do enjoy looking out and planning which way to go, where to tack, watching traffic, and if another boat is in the vicinity, go faster.

One big difference. In chess, the Queen doesn't pout when the King tells her it's been two hours without wind, and it's time to turn the engine on.
