Replacing hot water tank coolant hoses on 34-2?

I’d like to preemptively replace the hoses that carry coolant from the engine to the hot water tank. I’m wondering if this is possible / easy and if it requires removing the hot water tank.

I have a 89 34-2 with a universal m25-xp. The hot water tank is in the starboard lazarette forward of the holding tank.

Thanks
Phil

Well, not difficult. Often or typically awkward, given the tight spaces. 'Easy,' if hoses alone are all that's involved.

But of course most of us are tempted to expand the job once we're in there, replacing other stuff, painting and so on. Water heaters are often at end of life. Topic falls under cooling system maintenance, many threads.

One of mine is leaking so I am into this job as well. With the holding tank in place it’s very difficult to reach the coolant hoses and likely impossible to remove them from the fittings especially with the diesel furnace hoses looming over everything. With the tank out and side panel removed the water heater is fully exposed and it should be relatively easy.

You'll need to drain coolant to do that. I would be a good time to flush the system. "While you're in there . . ."
