Rotting Bulkhead

Hello, looking for advice and insight. I have owned a 35-2 for a few months now in San Diego. There seems to be some water damage at the port chain plate.

I am trying to wrap my head around replacing the bulkhead. The process seems pretty straight forward on most boats.

However the compression post is firmly flush up with the bulkhead. It seems that the head's counter top sink fixture will have to be removed to access the tabbing etc.

Has anyone done this? Has anyone just repaired the location of the chain plate connection with epoxy and fiber glass vice removing the entire panel? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Pictured below is the bulkhead in question. I know I still need to pull the cover panel off - I know I know. But the opposite side has clearly experienced some water rot...

Yes. I used G10, fiberglass cloth, and epoxy.
