Prairie Schooner

To backtrack a bit, @Prairie Schooner, I noticed your cleats for your traveler are not located on the traveler itself, but on the cabin top. This is a modification I've thought of doing as the motion to cleat/uncleat on the traveler is at an awkward angle. Bringing the release closer to the cabin might also help.
Any downsides you've come across with this setup? My thought was using a Spinlock PXR as these look like an improvement over a cam cleat with a fairlead (and at double the price, so it meets the criteria for a B.O.A.T. purchase!)

We both like it. It's easier to reach than up at the traveler. And if we ever get new dodger canvas and put that on, the cleats will be inside where we can see what's going on. We decided on camcleats because it's easy to pop the line out quick if you need to dump traveler in a hurry. I don't know how the Spinlocks are for that. Something that's been discussed in different threads here is being able to let out the main quickly if you get overpowered. If we're sailing frisky (racing) we play the traveler pretty actively. It's always been plenty strong enough.
If there's a downside to this location it's that it makes one more set of lines cascading down the bulkhead and into the cockpit. (line bags are on the list)

I made pads out of Delrin as chafe guards. It might have been overkill and it would have been easier to cut off those SS tabs, but I wanted the option to move the cleats back.
