Rust stain removers ?

There are some small rust stains on the headliner where deck fittings are through-bolted. Once the inside gets cleaned up the stains will be more noticeable and I'd like to start thinking about getting rid of them and preventing them in the future.

Any good experiences with any of the various stain removers on this site: http://www.growinglifestyle.com/s/Rust-Stain_Remover/ ? Any other suggestions if your favorite isn't listed ?

How about prevention ? The stains I'm looking at are the result of humidity, not leaks, so I'd even considering just coating the exposed metal with a clear varnish or something like that. Other rust preventatives which would help stainless stain less with occasional interior application ?
