I would contact Christian Williams(PM) here if he doesn't chime in. He has done the trip multiple times so has a wealth of knowledge. He also has many video's + books you can review and compile some notes.
I take it that planning is pretty much complete, since this is nearly May. What is the plan? What boat, how many crew, and so on.
A public discussion touches all the bases here, but do send me a private message if you want more. As Dave says my experience is documented in the YouTube playlist "Three Solo Hawaii passages":
Christian Williams' videos span his sailing experience from childhood, through early multihull Bermuda races to singlehanded voyages to Hawaii in his 70s. A former Washington Post editor and television producer, he lives in Los Angeles and currently sails a 1984 Ericson 38. This free channel...
Thank you! We have an Ericson 35. Doing a few test trips first. Hopefully setting off at the optimum time - watching the wind. Not sure on crew yet - aiming for 2 people minimum. Don't need to rush the trip so going to travel South from MDR to around 30N and then sail West.
I'll watch Three Solo Hawaii Passages and maybe reach out with questions after that.
