I don't remember having my particular issue on other boats--the issue being that when the final sail tie is removed before hoisting, the furled sail immediately falls off the boom. Lazy jacks in place all the time while hoisting, sailing and dousing solves that (mine are taut and hardly noticeable).
Apparently this awkwardness is caused by my heavy, slippery Dacron main with full length battens, and maybe by the high stack created by Tides sliders. Quite irritating with no working crew.
The answer is either a lighter, more flexible sail that behaves better on the boom, or a stack pack, which solves it all.
