So she leaked more than I would have liked. And I didn’t know the age of the last service… so… it was sus.

Thankfully, it’s reasonably easy to get to. (If you can occupy the same space and time with the heat exchanger that is.)

But no matter, I persevered and it opened and divested its packing.

So they don’t look great, but I was expecting worse.

The particulars: my prop shaft is 1”. These were 3/8th. There were 3. My attempt at using 1/4” failed. I could only fit 2 and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get the packing nut back on. So back to Amazon and 3/8” packing. And it’s all back togeather.

I followed Hayden’s Howto on YouTube.

and like him I used a new blade in my razor knife and cut right on the shaft and it went like butter.
I staggered the rings 180° apart like he says, and tightened it all back up. We shall see on Saturday who is wet, and who is dry.
