Our 2003 ZF5 transmission with only 400 hours on it is slipping in Forward gear. Suddenly, there are metal particles in the transmission fluid. Our mechanic is advising the removal and disassembly of the transmission to see whether a rebuild makes sense or whether we need a new one. I did a search on this site yesterday that turned up some folks that feel the ZF5 is not beefy enough for a Universal M-25XPB. Some of you have upgraded to the ZF10. I'm thinking that if I have to pay for removal and reinstall of my transmission anyway, it might make sense to save the rebuild dollars and invest in the beefier ZF10. I have a question for folks who have done this upgrade, were any modifications necessary to accomodate the larger ZF10? Thanks!
