West Coast Ericson 27 for Sale

Reluctantly, I have decided to sell my 1973 Ericson 27.

This is a great boat, which has been totally restored. (Okay, I know, that is not technically possible with an older boat like this, but it is surely sweet :) )

It is equipped completely according to the PIYA guidelines for offshore racing, but I will be removing some of the equipment, primarily limited to things like my foul weather gear, recording barometer, and some handheld equipment. As a result you will get a boat that is very well equipped for a reasonable price.

Check out the pictures and description at http://www.pacifier.com/~nreynold/Ericson27forsale.htm

Thanks for your interest!

Beware of Internet Scams When Selling Your Boat

Nick:

My Catalina 22 was listed on numerous Internet websites and I was impressed with the number of hits I was getting... seemed to good to be true... and it was. There are people out there that are going to e-mail you about the boat and offer you a certified cashier's check. These are scam artists and you can usually tell they are fake by the poor grammer. No doubt you would not of been sucked in by this, but I decided to pass it on so other readers don't get scammed. As for my boat, it sold to a nice local gentleman.

I agree that you should be careful of strangers on the internet... but, FWIW, a guy in our YC sold his pristine Catalina 22 to an Idaho buyer this spring after listing it in a Catalina forum on the 'net.
After a lot of emails and presumably some phone calls, the buyer showed up right on time with a wad of cash and a big tow vehicle and the deal was done.

To me, it would be like advertising and selling via any medium... it all gets back to building enough trust to complete the transaction. I once met a stranger at his bank when he wanted to give me a check for a used car -- he converted the check to cash and I signed over the title.

I agree about the "cashiers check" scam. Heard about it as a local scam here in town... and not just through the 'net.

Best,
Loren

Not so Nick... When I restore a boat I strip it down to a bare hull and rebuild from the bottom up, correcting all the manufacturing defects along the way (yes even Ericsons have defects, some of them serious).

All fasteners are removed and thrown away and I mean *all* of them. Everything that can be replaced is, with new.

2 years later you have a boat that is better than new.
