That oarfish was found by a person associated with the Catalina Island Marine Institute which owns the Tole Mour, the large ship in the background of that photo. I was on the Tole Mour last month as a part of a "Friends of Tole More" outing and what a great experience it was. It's very strange to think that ship was built in the 80's as a medical ship to service the Marshall Islands. That's the 1980's not 1880's :)
