Windows (Ports) Closed Cell Foam

There are several threads dealing with the repair of the windows. However, I can't find any reference to the thickness of foam being used. Any thoughts/advice?

I used some of the 1/8 inch closed cell stuff for camper shells and the like. It had adhesive on one side from the local hardware. Bruse the club nay sayer said the foam would leak so we stretched it over a hose and it made a baloon that did not even swet through, he was convinced.

Just stick it on the frame on the surface that mates with the gelcoat with the lap at the bottom, cut off the excess after you bolted the port back in place. I also used butyl rubber to loghtly bed the gasket to frame, glass to gasket and the frame half seams. It worked, one down seven more ports to go.
