Ericson 27 1976 "Lotus Flower"
The existing 11x10 fixed two blade prop gave me a top speed of 4.5 knots and a 20 amp speed of 3 knots. Knowing a bigger prop would be more efficient and reading that a three blade prop would be better for regeneration I found a 12x10 fixed three blade locally and had it installed. This was a nice improvement. The top speed increased to 5.7 knots and at a 20 amp draw I was now getting 4 knots of boat speed. I have a 13x12 fixed three blade prop that I plan to experiment with in the future.
Regarding regeneration the best I've seen is 4amps @ 48volts and that was while surfing down waves at 7 knots. That's not much but it is something and the regeneration game is an ongoing exercise. I'm learning more all the time with respect to regeneration. There are some very devoted Electric Propulsion for sailboats people that believe regeneration through the prop shaft is a pipe dream.
I'm sure I'm taking a hit on sailing speed with this prop but more on that and other confessions later ;-)
