Well look here, a valve return spring! Nothing like this on the Gusher 10.

The holes for the pump arm are identical at 3 inches, but the mounting holes are not in case you were wondering. You know what that means.
Speaking of mounting holes, the drilling diagram only shows the 4 for the deckplate, yet there are six required to mount the pump. Why?
Notice they are using threaded inserts in the plastic. I prefer the
old method of traditional nuts and washers because it made installation somewhat easier.
Well anyway it doesn't matter because the enclosed guide doesn't agree with reality. I feel sorry for the guy using this template to
drill his holes. It's not even close.
I've come up against my photo limit for this post so I'll wrap it up. I re-drilled my old backing plate using the actual part to locate the holes
(always do this) and then used the plate as a drilling template to mount the pump on the boat. Pump seems to work fine, but we will revisit
this topic after some time has passed.
