What is standing in the way of securing KUBOTA parts for one's KUBOTA engine?
I'm not a lawyer and am unaware of EricsonYachts rules/regulations for sharing manuals, other than those created for Ericson Yacht, which are readily available. I am also unaware of U.S. state or federal laws preventing the copying and distribution of manuals for education purposes.
Got a UNIVERSAL (ahem...KUBOTA) engine block in your boat? Yup... I do.
Did one's regional UNIVERSAL diesel engine parts dealer go belly up? Yup...Ours did, here in PNW (Seattle's Gallery Marine Engine LLC no longer sells parts, although they provide service).
Does one periodically need parts on the day one is working on one's inboard diesel? Yup...We do.
Would it be helpful to have a parts cross-over list and diagrams to simplify purchasing? Yup...Our local KUBOTA dealer spent way too much time trying to help us...to no avail.
What's available on EricsonYacht.org / Resources tab with a search for "kubota?"
M25XP service manual and parts list
I read a number of pages from "KubotaPart1 Service.pdf" (1 of 3 downloads available), and already learned MUCH more about my own 3-cyclinder engine. And, I pulled the manifold gasket # off it for my M25, and I suspect that it's the common crossover. Thanks @Tom Metzger
However... What if you don't wish to trust Tom's statement: "These are the manuals for the M-25XP engine," since M-25XP isn't stated anywhere on the download docs. What if you order a $000.00 part from this resource and it turns out to be incorrect. First and Foremost: Don't blame Tom...
KUBOTA dealers request an engine block model and serial number. And Universal metal-tag stamped numbers will not do. How does one find the block number?
See the following:
engine.kubota.com
Specific to Universals in Ericson's, this hyperlink in SAILNET, & information from ErikTheRed may help:
"For anyone who is looking for their SERIAL NUMBER LOCATIONS for a 5411 here are the positions I have found. I would think this would apply to other Universals as well.
Does ANYONE have the live resource today?
RitSim and jvis on SailboatOwners dot com provided a useful story of their experience:
"M25 there's a flat part of the block, facing up, immediately inboard of the injection pump. After I scraped the paint away I found the numbers were filled in with putty.
RitSim's image as screenshot is attached here, which may help some owners.

Again, our local Kubota dealer could not cross match with the Universal numbers pulled from my own engine plate, see attached image, further illustrating the need to find one's block numbers to begin the Kubota parts journey for your Kubota block.
If you haven't tried it...go for it and report back.
Soon, I'm going to try to find a puddy-filled series of letters&numbers on an engine block and will report...

This page offers how to check the serial number of Kubota engines.

Found my Universal M18 Kubota serial number. Thanks
I have been unsuccessfuly looking for the Kubota serial number on my Universal M18 engine for quite some time. I have read that it is "Not really easy to see but it is stamped in the block near the fuel injector pump". Does anyone have anything more specific than that and what types/sequence...

Using Kubota parts
I thought I had seen a post a couple years ago about using some parts from Kubota engines on Universal Motors engines. I have a starter/solenoid problem and am trying to locate those parts. Has anybody come acrossed that post, and/or know if indeed some parts from Kubota engines can be used on...
Kubota part number for injectors on M25
I will be on the hard in a marina in Mobile, Alabama in a week. Among other things I want the yard to do is inspect and clean the injectors, but I think I will also order and bring to them a set of new injectors just in case. Can anyone please give me the part number for the Kubota D850 engine...
