Hope everyone is warm and snug. hope youall had time to prep your boats for the snow/ cold weather. I am going to try to get to Tacoma tomorrow to see how Mischief Maker is doing. I injured my knee and haven't been able to get out for 2 weeks. Maybe take pics. Time to have the last bottle of Apple Pie.
Stay warm and safe, Harold & Jessie, S/V Mischief  Maker.

Hi Harold,

Sorry to hear about your injury; I hope it heals quickly.

Believe it or not, I still have about a 1/2 bottle of 'Pie' left from the 2007 Rendevouz.::p

Other than removing the genoa from the furler for winter storage, I didn't do much to prep our boat from this snowfall. With 5" on the ground, it's going to be difficult to get to the marina for at least several days. I hope the boat's doing okay; she's used to the 'tropical' weather in NorCal.

Happy Holidays to you and all the other frozen Vikings.:egrin:

Merry Christmas Vikings

Hodo - I hope your knee is better.

We have about a foot of snow in our neighborhood this morning. We got out early Saturday and ran errands, bought food and shopped a little. But the snow started by 2 pm or so. We didn't dilly-dally long. The boat is out of the water still and not much chance to work on it the past week when I'm worried about being able to get home with the snow coming down.

I have a borrowed oil-filled electric radiator running, which the yard prefers for untended operation. A small fan circulates the air. There has been a little ice in the bilge when the outside temp hits 25F or below. The cold water has frozen a couple times, but the hot still runs for some reason.

Stay safe and warm.

Well the rain has started and now we go to "slush" phase. We bought our 29 about a month ago and are itching to get it out. Hang in there!

Yesterday the resident/port captain at our YC sent this photo over showing the aftermath of the snow storm. There is even an Ericson 33 in the photo, upper left...
We are digging out of about 18" inches of snow at our house, about 10 miles away.

We managed to sneak out to our boat Tuesday. Everything was fine except for a drainage problem in the cockpit which was easily resolved.

There was a lot less snow at the marina than at home... maybe it mostly blew off?

I'm going to hate seeing the electricity bill for this month.

Heres a bad cellphone pic... looks like some slick ultrafast design made out of wax that sat in the sun too long...

Christmas Greetings!

Hi Harold,
Sorry to hear about your injury; I hope it heals quickly.

And please add my best wishes for Harold's recovery -- and Dan, if the snow were not so darned deep we would drive up to Seattle to help you and Harold celebrate Christmas with that last half bottle!
We look forward to seeing you folks this next sailing season, in much warmer weather.
All the best,
Loren

Well, three days late, but the bottle's still here, unlike the durn snow which, fortunately, got washed away by that - uh - what's it called....? Rain. Yeah, that's it.

After much snow-detouring to get to the marina, I discovered no perceivable damage to Kunu; she weathered the white onslaught quite well. My dock neighbor's Tartan 37 lost a pin on her traveler block, causing the boom to swing like a drunken monkey. But, I lashed it down and called him to report the jury rig.

Now, it's just plain cold up here - no doubt like it might be in PDX. And that's my report from the Great Northern Riviera (not). :egrin:
