Missing sailors found: 'We didn't know what we were getting into..'

My first thought... then my second These two guys are crazy! Facing Neptune without knowledge kept them from gaining respect that would ultimately serve them... WELL. On the other hand, I'm in my mid 40's and often admire those who take chances early (relatively) in life. For them, much was...

    E27 Sails - SF Bay

working jib too. I love to fly my hang-on working jib. Like Morgan says, it pulls beautifully. I too have used it in heavy air with no main, and the 27 still steers well, and can almost close reach. Fun times. I also think it's a charming sail to fly. My OLD main with 2 reef points also...

    Great Lakes Naval Station Marina

Yes, I think you can get in The slips won't fit you, but there are plenty of cans in the harbor. Or, you can tie up to the seawall for more $$$. Call the MWR division of Great Lakes, and talk to Kathy Medina (1-847-688-2110 x118). She mentioned to me that several of last years Navy boaters...

    Great Lakes Naval Station Marina

Kind of weird, but they let me (a civilian) in for the summer. I've got a slip there for my e27 (still awaiting launch) and am wondering if there's anyone else here with experience in the GLNS harbor. Last year, the largest boat in the slips was 26', so I'm wondering if I'm pushing the depth...

Lake Michigan-- When are you launching?

mid May might work for me too... Not sure when to uncover either. I've got the big itch, and can't wait! Then again, winters has a long, tight grip on us here, and I'm not going to rush it. Last year I was at Northpoint. This year, I'm hoping I can move closer to home...(live in Lake Bluff)...

Lake Michigan-- When are you launching?

I'm still debating this one, but hope to make up my mind in the next week or so. Early = less on land maintenance, more sailing! Late means a couple of tweaks might make for better comfort. Still working on the list of priority projects...

    fuel level on e27

Unfortunately, it's not at all a straight shot. From the cap, the fuel runs down a slightly twisted hose, until it finally falls into the tank. The cap is on the port gunwhale, just fore of the rear pulpit, and aft of the spinnaker winch. Anyone else have a shapen dipstick idea for this...

    fuel level on e27

my 1975 e27 has no fuel gauge, telling me how much fuel is in the aft port metal tank. Does any one know of an economical way for me to occasionally measure the level of the fuel? I'm wondering if some sort of dip stick would work, or something 'sensitive' to density stuck on the side of...

    E27 Owner In Chicago

I bought the boat late Aug '07, and the top side had been repainted maybe two years prior. I have to admit, the color wasn't my favorite at the time, but this boat has grown on me quite a bit. The new paint topside is not gritty at all, so I'm not sure I'd call it 'non-stick'. However, decent...

    E27 Owner In Chicago

Wow! I thought I did a lot of work on my 1975 e27, but next to what you did, sheesh! Great job! She looks wonderful. FWIW, Here's my baby: My work has been infrastructure- seacocks, patching hull -- along with refinishing 80% of the interior wood.

    Mob ?

As I recall... In the literature that came with my recently purchased LifeSlingII, it appears there is an additional 'accessory' block and tackle to assist in reboarding a MOB. In my MOB planning, I'm thinking swimming ladder will have to get the wet one back on. If physical shape is...

    Newb here.........

Me too! I bought my 1975 e27 (wheel steering) in late August '07. As I'm in the midwest, she was on the hard. It appears she'd been on jacks for a year or two. Her history shows she raced. I've had to add a lot back in to her to make this coming season more comfortable for my family and me. I...
