Anyone replace their standing rigging recently? What did it cost? How do you get an honest assesment so that you are not just replacing rigging so that the rigger can make money?
Is anyone here a member of L.A.Y.C. ?
A friend suggested we look into it because of mooring privileges at Catalina and it also offers the possibility of a leeward slip where we now are.
I looks like it is not just a party Y.C. since they are pretty involved in the TransPac ? The question is...
I've not had any leaks (that I know of!) surrounding the mast, but there are some cracks along the base of the mast and while I am working on other cracks/crazing/gouges I thought I would take care of the cracks at the mast as well. But, if this is a larger issue I might need to pull the mast...
Time to renew my insurance.
My policy for my 73 35-II is with Zurich.
$ 900 deductible with $ 30,000 replacement value.
Annual rate $ 740.00
How does this compare?

I just received a quote to have a new engine installed and perhaps it is not too unreasonable. The cost is upwards of 23K with about 2k in taxes and $11,500 in labour (125 hours). At first, I was floored but then after thinking about it, it may not be too far off. This includes pulling the...
I broke my gooseneck yesterday as you can see in the attached photos. If they look familiar, they are since I found them from one of Loren's earlier postings. Has anyone replaced this part and if so, what should I expect to pay. I don't like the robustness of this design, there is too little...
Just curious to see what people are paying annually for a similiar sized and year boat. I was paying 60 a month for my 1977 E32 with a gas engine and no survey through progessive. I'm curious to see what I'm in store for with a boat worth more, but it is also surveyed, newer, and has a diesel...
Sorry for doing a duplicate post, but the Norhtern Cal group is not too active.

I will be decommissioning an Ericson 38 in the Bay Area and could appreciate some information regarding what this should run. I...
I will be decommissioning an Ericson 38 in the Bay Area and could appreciate some information regarding what this should run. I was already quoted around 1600 which is absolutely absourd in my opinion. I know that commissioning the boat in Everett, WA will be under $400. The marina that I...
I'm considering the purchase of a 1984 25+ ericson. It has a 1 cylinder diesel Yanmar I think 8 or 9 HP engine, salt water cooled (boat kept in salt water year round). The diesel people I talked to say because raw water cooled the engine is reaching end of serviceable lifespan, still runs OK...
