We've just taken our first tentative steps with a site served by a hosting company. Since 1995 we've always run all our own servers but as we'll be selling the house we won't be able to house and tend our own servers any more so now we're web-renters :)
We'll see how well we manage to keep...
In April of 2009 I wrote Yves Gélinas to tell him we were about to order a Cape Horn Spray from him very soon.
It is now almost two (2 !) years later and we finally printed the envelope with the check for him. He sure is a delight to deal with and I look forward to installing the unit.
I...
Just wanted to show the results of my work over the last 2.5yrs. It started with a bottom job, and I got a little carried away. Ended up completing the following:
1) Repaired cracks and gouges, epoxy filled holes for mounting hardware, and painted hull and deck & binnacle with Interlux...
I was beginning to think there was a hidden agenda keeping him from getting through since there is very little traffic there and he'd been held up day after day for a week: http://www.totallymoney.com/
Now he just has to avoid hurricanes as he zips back through the Caribbean and back to...
Hello Chesapeake Bay Folks.
We finally made the move to Annapolis, :egrin::egrin::egrin::egrin:posted about a year ago we had planned to do it. After looking to sell Sapphire and Tonic and finding no takers in the market at all, we had her shipped to Ferry Point in April and the bottom line...
You have no idea what a find this site has been. I purchased "Finally" last September. The PO sort of "forgot" to mention a few things, and I didn't do as much experimentation as I should have before I signed. Lust is an awful thing, I guess. The septic system is functional, at last, with a...
A beautiful Friday !
We've had light winds every time we've been out in the past so this weekend was a nice change (but not too much change until we get the standing rigging replaced).
The wind speed instrument seems to need some calibration, but I'd guess we had about 8 to 10 m/sec or...
An Ulman "Flasher" asymmetric spinnaker came with our E38. Having no experience with spinnakers, and new to a "big" E38, we didn't try the thing last season. To be honest, even though I had replaced the spinnaker halyards, etc. in preparation I was quite intimidated and the wife was downright...
Sorry it took so long. Here's some pics of the new starboard deck. The original was rotted from the shrouds back to the primary winch. I decored over the winter and recored in the spring. I also repaired the wood around the forward portlights which leaked and also rotted the wood. It was quite...
Well, after 6 months of waiting, we finally got our boat almost down to our new marina home. The marina where we'll keep the boat did not have a travellift which we found out while the boat was in transit from Sandusky. I had to redirect the driver to Eddyville, KY to Marine Services who I...
It took months before we got around to it !

We are keeping the old one just in case the new one should somehow fail.

Well we finally took Aiki off the dock, tuned up the rig, hoisted the white floppy things. As is normal with the bay, we started off in light to non existant winds, and then built to over 30 knots in the afternoon in the slot.
It was a good sail, followed by two more this weeked, although...
well, I've finally done it. After five years of dragging a 35 lb anchor and 50 ft of chain up by hand, I have bought the electric windlass. OK, the wire for this thing could cable a bridge. What's the best place to run this thing, any suggestions (Ericson 35-2). I guess I could run it through...
