I am looking at purchasing an Ericson 36c. I am mostly interested in long distance cruising and Bluewater passages. I need a boat that can cruise the Caribbean, and possibly cross oceans, safely. I'm not looking for anything that is super fast, nor do I have much desire to race. It looks like a...
I've seen a photo of an E29 double headsail rig and they have the lay-out specs in the owners manual. I am looking for someone w/ experience w/ this rig and what their comments on it are.
Nancy just got off the phone and we're driving down this PM.
The newly refinished spars, upgrades and standing rigging is supposed to be done !
Can't wait to see her tonight

We finally got down to our de-rigged Senta today. She's riding at least 2, or maybe 3 inches higher in the water !
I'll have to see if I can find the lbs/in of immersion figure but I'm amazed. A quick guess would be on the order of 500 lbs/in. That would mean the rig comes in at 1000 lbs...
Anyone replace their standing rigging recently? What did it cost? How do you get an honest assesment so that you are not just replacing rigging so that the rigger can make money?
Anyone have ideas on baseline tension on the bobstay, headstay, backstay and upper shrouds on the Independence 31? Here are my issues:
1) I feel like I have an issue with my bowsprit lifting (can see a gap at the stem), which would indicate perhaps bobstay stretch and need of tensioning,
2)...
Greetings fellow E34T owners. Would anyone have anything more specific on the rig tension settings. I have referred to the manual, but would welcome any comments or thoughts.
Thank you kindly,:egrin:

Well, after 32 years my Main Sail has succumbed to the sun and the wind and I'm looking for a good used Sail. I can't find one....Anyone got an idea for a source? Or, here's a better question: The Luff is 31'6" and the Foot is 9'6". Since I've not been able to find exactly that measurement...
Can anyone out there save me the trouble of going to the boat for a measurement?
I'm going to replace the topping lift and wondering what the measurement would be. I'll take an educated guess from anyone and build in a few feet for error. ;)
How long (and how thick) a line would I need for...
I just purchased a 1972 E39 flush deck. It's a project boat and needs a lot of attention. The boat has a single spreader, single aft lower and baby stay rig. It was apparently done at the factory (or when the boat was new). Rod rigged with Hood Gemini headfoil, but will replace with (probably)...
A while back there was a thread concerning tall vs short rig which I frankly have not bothered to find at this time......
BUT.....going through a pile of papers that were given to me with my boat I happened on a sheet showing all of the rig dimensions from the 23/1 through the 35/3 (which is...
Just unstepped and stepped the mast on my E27 for the first time. Am considering getting a loos meter to help tune the rigging. Does anyone have guidelines for the desired tension in each of the shrouds?
Thanks,

I see 2 boats listed on YW that claim to have a tall rig. I have never seen any reference here or on any PHRF table that indicates the 35 ever came with a tall rig. Maybe an owner upgrade? Any ideas?
Being new to my E25 (#137) and and having owned only fractional rigs before, I have questions about several things. Because a masthead rig is new to me, I'll start with rig tuning. I've read the posts here and on several web sites where opinions vary widely. So, I started with the owners manual...
Any tips on what the rig tuning should be for a 1980 E-38 SD?
It appears to my eye that my rig has either no rake, or may even be a little forward.
I was going to move back a little, but a seasoned friend said that since I already seem to have some weather helm, to sail as is for a while...
Hi There,'
If anyone has a decent main lying around i may be interested in picking it up...or if you even have a lead on one that would be great.'
Thanks All

Hello,
I am looking for a boat and am considering an '87 E35-3. The standing rigging is original and I want to get an estimate for replacement. Can anyone tell me the wire size or sizes?
Also, I would appreciate any comments from owners about any potential problems to look for.
Neil
I just recently became an owner of a 1975 32-2. Does anyone know how I can tell if she is a tall rig versus a standard rig? Also, is there a source for this type of information?
Thanks
Does anyone know if Ericson made a 30+ with a tall rig, in addition to the normal mast height? If so, how much taller was it, and were there any other changes made to that model, different from the regular Ericson 30+.
Thanks for any information.
Frank.
I have an Ericson-25 that I'd like to sell or otherwise...
It's got a full keel (needing 3'10" of water to float), a tall rig, usable (but not new) sails and steps on the mast. The main and jib mounted on the boat work well though the starboard winch is seized and there's something wrong...
Rig Tune/Problem with new Main
I purchased a new main and 110 for my '88 32-3 this spring. The main has, according to the sailmaker (Doyle), a pre-bend wrinkle in it. The wrinkle runs downward and aft from the point where the luff and second batten (full batten) intersect. His recommended...

I'm applying for a PHRF rating on my 1985 E26. I have found all the relevant specs except for the fractional rig. Does anyone know what percent the fractional rig is?
Thanks.
I recently purchased an Ericson35 hull#110 1970. I'm thinking of adding a staysail. What are the issues with this for the ericson? has anyone done this?
A lingering question, -I never have found an Ericson rigging schematic to follow on the E35-3, only a factory inventory list of rigging materials, I've always wondered about the official main sheet rigging layout versus the apparent slight interference with the boom vang at the boom...

I own a '73 Ericson 35 with the original standing rig. My wire rigging is 30 years old and the turnbuckles are frozen. I read recently that the average useful life of wire rigging is about 12-15 years for coastal water cruising. Is this accurate information? What is the approximate cost of new...
A while ago I posted that I was looking for a boom for my E29 tall rig. After much searching I have found a boom that is slighly too long. My idea was to just cut it down, but I would still rather find something that is aready the right size. So if anyone knows of somewhere or someone that could...
For sale or trade;
1988 E34 mast & rigging shortened aprox. 40" w/rigging & sails. This is a factory original as near as I can find out. Boat was originally a Florida boat and may have been ordered that way for bridge clearance. All halyard exits, goose neck and other fittings are original...
I purchased an E-34 1988 vintage this spring and just discovered a real problem. Raced on the Wed. night beer can league up here in Mich. with really bad results. Blamed it on poor sails, no folding prop, learning a new boat, etc. To say I was disapointed in it's performance is an...
